WORKSHOPS

WORKING BREED FOUNDATIONS WORKSHOP

Being the owner and trainer of working Kelpies and having handled hundreds of high drive and working breeds, I know all too well that without appropriate handling, these dogs can develop excitable, anxious, compulsive and reactive behaviours which can be very stressful for owners. Our Working Breed Foundations Workshop aims to help you better understand and handle your working breed dog wether it is a pet dog or worker. In this workshop, you and your dog will gain basic skills we apply to our own working breed dog in their everyday life and out in public. You will learn how your working dog’s brain works, how to use your body language, vocal tone and lead handling to better communicate with your dog and how to create an “off switch” for a calmer dog. This course is suitable for working/herding breed dogs of any age from 12 weeks old. This course is suitable as a starting point in training your young pup or to improve upon your teenage or adult dogs behaviour.

Please read the terms and conditions before booking. Please provide proof of vaccination before or when attending your workshop.

PLEASE NOTE: This workshop is NOT suitable for dogs with high level dog or human reactivity or aggression. Please contact us to discuss how we can help with these issues in our private behaviour consultations.

WORKSHOP DETAILS

  • 2 hour workshop held at our property
  • Pricing -  $240 per spot (including GST)
  • 5 dogs per workshop
  • 1 dog per booking

What we will cover:

  • Working breed theory - understand how your dog thinks, their drives and instincts
  • Handler skills - use of vocal tone and body language to better communicate with your dog
  • Lead training - how to walk on a loose lead and how to use the lead to communicate with your dog
  • Teach your dog to settle in any environment (the “off-switch”)
